Collection consists of four volumes and transcripts for one of the volumes. Volumes I and II provide detailed records of the making of spars and masts for various ships. Volume I was kept by William Vincent, an apprentice at the Navy Ship Yard; Volume II was kept by Nicholas Vincent. Volume III provides specifications for the steel towboat Britannia; the name B. B. Crowninshield is written on the first page. No author is provided for Volume IV, the "Book Dimentions of Sundry Ship's Hulls and Spar's." Transcripts are provided for sections of Volume IV.
